Jeffrey Sanchez Endorses Mike Kelley, Joins him for Festival Betances Parade
BOSTON, MA July 17, 2017 – Just one day prior to being named the next House Ways and Means Chair, Rep. Jeffrey Sánchez joined District 2 City Council Candidate Mike Kelley to celebrate Festival Betances 2017. They were joined by Rep. Sánchez’s mother, Maria Sánchez, and members of the Villa Victoria community. Every summer, this celebration attracts thousands of people from all over Boston and Massachusetts, and is a staple in the South End.
One of the many highlights of the weekend celebration is the parade through the community. On Saturday, Rep. Sánchez walked with Kelley and many of the Kelley campaign supporters in this year’s parade.
This was the pair’s first joint public appearance since Rep. Sánchez endorsed Kelley’s campaign for District 2 City Council.
“I’m supporting Mike’s candidacy for District 2 because he has the knowledge and experience to be a strong voice for each and every one of his constituents,” said Sánchez. “Having someone with his record for advocacy on the Council will provide a much-needed boost to many of the residents in each of the District’s diverse neighborhoods,” he continued.
Kelley’s progressive campaign for District 2 has seen a significant boost in support from elected officials and political organizations in recent weeks.
“I am grateful for Rep. Sánchez’s endorsement, and I want to thank him for his service to the people of Boston,” said Kelley. “Speaker DeLeo made an excellent decision in naming him the next Chair of House Ways and Means. I look forward to the opportunity to work with him throughout my campaign, and as the next City Councilor for District 2.”
